Okra is grown for its slender, pointed pods that develop from attractive flowers in the leaf axils. The long, slender pods of this variety are heavily ribbed and deep green, and produce best in areas with lots of hot summer weather. Serve fried, in soups and stews, and use for pickling.
Plant: Sow in a sunny location 2-3 weeks after the last frost. in northern climates, best handled as transplants started 4-5 weeks before last frost.
Care: Water regularly and fertilize when 6"(15cm) tall.
Harvest: Using a knife or pruner, cut off pods when about 3-4" (7.5-10cm) long. Use as soon as possible for best quality.
