Pkt (≈ 50 seeds)
This cool-weather relative to cabbage is easy to grow, producing a large head. The vitamin-rich head is actually a cluster of tiny flower buds. After the head is harvested, it "sprouts" numerous smaller heads. Sow in early spring or fall, or plant transplants. Delicious fresh, frozen, raw or steamed!
When and Where to Plant: Sow in a sunny location in early spring or late summer. For an earlier start in spring, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before setting out.
Care: Plants prefer a firm soil and just enough water to prevent wilting.
Harvest: Cut just before buds begin to open, 6" (15cm) beneath the cluster of buds.
Your Health: A good source of calcium, phosphorus, vitamins A, B & C, and fiber.
