Double podded type. Extra large 4" pods. Disease resistant. One of the most popular garden vegetables, peas grow best in cool weather. Young pea plants tolerate considerable cold, even light frost; so spring plantings are seldom harmed by cold weather. Shelled out fresh peas have a sweet, delicate flavor. May be eaten fresh or cooked, good for canning.
Plant: Plants grow best if seeds are treated with inoculant before sowing. Plant only into well drained soil. Direct seed as soon as soil can be worked in the spring. Replant at 2 week intervals until mid-spring.
Care: Water regularly and fertilize when 4" (10cm) tall. Provide a support about 30" (75cm) tall.
Harvest: Pick while pods are still bright green and shiny, but after seeds have enlarged. Hold vine while picking to avoid damaging it.
Your Health: A good source of fiber, minerals, vitamins A and C and some B vitamins.
